If you want to give a try to Ubuntu or if you don't wanna burn a CD/DVD to install Ubuntu, you can install it through USB Flash Drive.

Prerequisites:
  1. Ubuntu ISO image - get the latest versionof Ubuntu here if you dont already have an image.
  2. USB Flash Drive - 2 GB or more.
  3. Universal USB Installer - Get it from here
Now when you have all the above mentioned three things with you, follow the steps below.
  1. Open Universal USB Installer.

  2. Select the distribution from the dropdown menu.
  3. Browse the iso image you downloaded.
  4. Choose the drive letter of USB disk. (be careful, choosing wrong drive may cost you loss in data.)
  5. If you want to make it Persistent (click here to know more about persistent install) select the persistent file size, otherwise leave it.
   6. When you are done with all above steps click on create.

   7.  It will install Ubuntu on your flash drive.

Now boot from USB to give a try or to install Ubuntu on hard disk.
